Jon Bloor

Group Lead Volunteer at 4th Ashby, and the person behind Woggle HQ.

I am a father of four boys, a husband, and Group Lead Volunteer at 4th Ashby. I started as an accounting trainee, qualified as an Accounting Technician in local government, and after a spell as an internal auditor became Commercial Manager for a group of museums. The years since have been visitor attractions, ticketing, retail and membership software.

I am a Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT, AATQB) and have lectured in accounts at a local college. I am Pre-Sales Manager at oomi.

Volunteering at 4th Ashby

I have been in Scouting since September 1983. At 4th Ashby the group has grown from about 60 young people to almost 200, with a team of about 40 volunteers.

I was a Cub and a Scout, a young leader, and took on a troop at 18. I ran Cubs from 1997 to 2001, then Scouts at Market Bosworth, and later became Assistant and then Group Lead Volunteer at 4th Ashby. I have taken Scouts camping for more than 250 nights, with expeditions in England, Wales, Scotland and Canada. I currently hold permits for rock climbing, abseiling and the zip wire. I have sat on the County Executive, including the sale of the old headquarters, a development fund, and a modern building for groups across the county, and I am a trustee of scouting charities.
